This serves to improve the heat transfer and is called Heatpipe Direct Touch, or HDT for short. Great review but tad confused, review shows the 158mm (official spec is 159mm) Hyper 212 EVO fits with both vent & TG panel, but 158mm NH-U12a/s and 155mm Fuma 2 will only fit under vent panel not the TG panel. Otherwise the Hyper 212 Evo is a pretty standard tower heatsink. The Cryorig H7 performs about the same, looks much nicer, has a better fan and better compatibility, the mounting hardware is much better, and it includes a very large tube of high quality thermal interface material. On the top of the cooler you can see very good the eight ends of the total of four 6mm heatpipes. I don't think the CM Hyper 212 is even good enough to cool a 9900K at stock speeds so definitely don't get that. The Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 fan is equipped with 7 rotor blades and is plugged onto the cooler with a previously screwed plastic bracket. The NH-D15 is basically the best air cooler on the market, and is fine for overclocking a 9900K. 1252 rpm and finally with 20 speed at approx.
